Kourou Kouyate was born in Conakry, Guinea. He is the son of M'Bady Kouyate, one of the greatest, most reknowned, kora players in West Africa. Growing up in a griot family, music as been part of his daily life, playing the kora and singing. At an early age, he chose to specialize in the bass instruments; the electric bass and the bolon, the traditional West African bass that Kourou plays on the Fula Flute recording. Kourou is a generous and universal soul and has collaborated in many World music projects, among them: "Tanalaton Conakry" by the group Won Bere. He is also a member of the Trio Ba Cissoko, along with his brother Sekou, and his cousin Ba. They have been touring Europe extensively in the last three years.
